Food Service License - New Establishment

Are you planning on building a new, or renovating an established restaurant or eatery? Individuals or groups interested in operating a food and beverage establishment must submit a plan review application with fees and obtain approval before new construction or remodeling may begin.

Submit a plans review request

You (the owner) must submit a plan review application, the required documents listed in the application, and a $500 deposit to OCPHS to begin the licensing process. You can submit this request to Olmsted County Public Health Services.

Plans must be submitted and approved before construction begins. Allow at least 30 days at minimum for plan approval.

Review our Food Service Inquiries page for more information about the plan review process.

Receive approval for licensing

Plans and specifications are reviewed by OCPHS plan reviewers. Approval for licensing is given once construction is finished and a final construction assessment is completed.

Submit the license application and fees

In addition to the plan review fee, there is a separate license fee. OCPHS will provide you a license application, including the required fee information after the final construction assessment.
